These five words were spoken by Mutaz Barshim at the 2021 Olympics Games held in Tokyo, Japan.

During a High Jump event at Olympics, two athletes Qatar’s Mutaz Barshim and Italy’s Gianmarco Tamberi were at the same level which means both have reached the same clearance height of 2.37 meters. After three failures each to clear the 2.39-meter mark, the Olympic official offered them a jump-off to decide the matter. But the Italian has incurred injury and so will not be able to attempt further jumps.

At that point the referee asked the other Qatar athlete, would you attempt another jump or would you share the gold with the Italian, he replied ‘Can we have two golds?’ The official nodded, and come and see the joy and happiness, exhibited by both athletes.

The power of just those five words. ‘Can We Have Two Golds?’ created loads of unspeakable joy in the hearts of not only the two athletes from Italy and Qatar. ( To be continued)
