We have a choice every day of our lives: Accept things as they are or take responsibility for changing them.” – Cory Booker, United States Senator

Your Present Situation

In what condition are you now and what are you doing about it?

You can either accept things the way they are or take the responsibility for changing the conditions around your life.

Are you experiencing some adverse conditions in your personal life, health, marriage, finances, family, business, organisation, community and country?

There are two choices facing anyone going through difficulties, and that is: to either accept things the way they are or take the responsibility for changing them. Share on X

Some Challenging Groups

There are many people in some very challenging groups such as:

  • People who have become what they are not supposed to be in life.
  • People who are where they are not supposed to be in life.
  • People who are doing what they should not be doing in life.
  • There is also the widows group. Women who have lost their husbands and are in need.
  • The senior citizens’ group in the conditions they least expected in life. Some of them are dying in poverty, sorrow, bitterness and regret.
  • There is the group of workers in both the public and private sector who are about to retire within the next 10 years or less without a house of their own and no hopeful financial future.
  • There is another group struggling with abandoned housing and other projects.
  • There is the group of contract/temporary workers who have spent many years without any permanent appointment.
  • There is the group of people with dreams in their hearts but they lack the interpretation and/or support to achieve such dreams.
  • And the list goes on and on.

 The Jabez Story

There is a man called Jabez whose name means sorrow. He could have accepted things the way they are and continue his sorrowful life, and may be blame his parents, relatives, government and even God. But Jabez chose a different option by taking responsibility for changing his negative life condition by calling upon God, and graciously; God answered his prayers, and Jabez life changed, and he moved from a sorrowful man to an honourable man. See the full details in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 (KJV)

The Truth

The truth is that regardless of the group you may find yourself in, you are either consciously or unconsciously accepting things as they are or deliberately taking the responsibility for changing things around you.

Another truth about your situation is that only you have the authority and audacity to change your condition for yourself. Share on X

The Way Out

Suppose the conditions around your life, health, marriage, family, business, organisation, community and country are unfavourable and far from what you want. In that case, you have what it takes to change and turn things to your advantage.

However, it all depends on if you are willing and ready to take responsibility for changing things around you.

What Taking Responsibility Means

To take the responsibility means:

  • Saying enough is enough to the negative and adverse conditions.
  • Saying to yourself that: If my condition is to change, it all depends on me.
  • Saying to yourself that I have what it takes to at least start making the effort to change my situation.
  • Saying to yourself, that from now going forward, I will start doing something no matter how small to change my condition for good.

The Outcome

When you are ready to play your own part, the necessary help you need will show up. Like it has been said, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
